What is Hospice Care?
Like Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. is an in-home service with specialized care that focuses on supporting you and your loved ones during an advanced illness. The emphasis is on comfort and quality of life, rather than finding a cure. Hospice care enables you to live each day to the fullest as comfortably and dignified as possible.
Palliative care serves as a complement to a Hospice care by combined pain control, symptom management, emotional and spiritual support. It explores the medical, emotional and lifestyle concerns that affect you and your family, and give ideas for ways you can feel and cope better.
Like Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. services are coordinated with the patient's physician and provided during routine scheduled visits by hospice team members to manage the patient's care. If a crisis should arise, we are able to respond 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Meet Hospice Care Team Members
Like Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. provides an interdisciplinary, specially trained team of professionals and volunteers, who work in closed cooperation with the patient, their family, and their personal physician, or Hospice medical director. The Hospice team seeks the active involvement of patients and their families and making decisions regarding care and treatment, while at the same time supporting the patient and family emotionally, socially, and spiritually.

Who May Need Our Care?
Hospice care is appropriate for anyone diagnosed with a terminal illness whose life expectancy is measured in months rather than years and where the primary goal has shifted to comfort-oriented care.
Cancer
End-stage heart and lung disease
Kidney disease
ALS and other neurological diseases
Alzheimer's disease and Parkinson's and any other life-limiting diseases.
All of the above must be related to the life-limiting diagnosis to be covered under hospice care.
Note: Like Family Hospice and Palliative Care, Inc. will handle all the billing and payment of services and supplies as they relate to the life-limiting diagnois.
Who pays for Hospice Care?
Our services are covered by Medicare, Medicaid/Medi-Cal, and most private insurance companies, sponsored care, and HMOs once a physician has certified that the patient has a terminal illness with a life expectancy of six months or less. There are no out-of-pocket expenses for eligible patients or their loved ones.
